Filming in Cheyenne

State government, rail, and a growing data-center corridor. Facility and infrastructure films are the usual reason we travel here.

Cheyenne was briefly the richest town per capita in the country, and the architecture still says so. The Wyoming State Capitol is a restored gold-domed 1888 building carrying full classical government interiors, and the Union Pacific Depot anchors a downtown of grand sandstone and brick built on railroad money. Both sit in a city of sixty-five thousand, which means access and staging a comparable capitol elsewhere could not offer.

Outside town the high plains open completely — shortgrass prairie starting at the city limits, enormous sky, and cloud shadow moving fast across open ground, which is a gift on landscape work. Forty minutes west, Vedauwoo's wind-sculpted granite hoodoos stand in ponderosa, and almost nobody outside Wyoming knows they are there. At six thousand feet the summers stay mild rather than hot, so midday exteriors remain workable when the desert markets have shut down. Wyoming issues no statewide permit: the city and Laramie County handle local ground, state parks and historic sites carry their own special-use permits, and Denver International is ninety minutes south — which puts crew and rental depth far closer than the map suggests.

Institutional and open-plains settings support the work. The Wyoming State Capitol and surrounding government buildings provide classical settings, while the high plains around the city supply long sightlines and unobstructed sky. These places support government, energy, and infrastructure stories at the scale of the state.

June through September is the main exterior season. Cheyenne sits on the high plains with cold winters, windy conditions, and short intense summers. The light is hard and clear, with long summer evenings and sharply limited winter daylight.

Permitting is local through the City of Cheyenne. The city is small and quick to cross. Cheyenne Regional Airport provides regional connections. The surrounding plains and nearby rail infrastructure keep industrial and government briefs grounded in the actual working landscape of the capital.

As a video production company, we work across Wyoming, including Casper and Jackson. If your shoot spans more than one city, we plan it as a single production rather than separate trips.
