Filming in Casper

Energy sector headquarters at the center of the state. Practical base for covering industrial sites across Wyoming in one trip.

Casper works as a production base for the middle of Wyoming. Casper Mountain rises three thousand feet directly above the city, twenty minutes to an overlook taking in the whole basin, and the North Platte runs a blue-ribbon trout river with cottonwood banks straight through town. Downtown keeps brick oil-boom frontage from the 1910s and twenties, built fast and built well.

More on filming in Casper

The real subject here is industry at scale — refineries, wind farms and drilling across the surrounding basin, where access is a matter of private permission rather than municipal permitting and the light does the rest. Open basin gives hard, unobstructed light and long summer evenings across ground with nothing on it. Independence Rock is an hour southwest, a granite whaleback carved with emigrant names from the 1840s, and Hell's Half Acre drops an eroded badland pit out of flat prairie forty-five minutes west. Wyoming issues no statewide permit; Visit Casper maintains the practical front door, and the BLM and Forest Service land surrounding the city permits separately by district. Casper–Natrona County International is ten minutes northwest.

Industrial and open settings define the usable range. Energy facilities and the surrounding high plains give process and infrastructure films their real scale. The North Platte River adds a linear corridor of water and cottonwoods through an otherwise dry landscape.

June through September is the main exterior window. Casper shares Wyoming’s high-plains pattern of cold winters, strong wind, and short warm summers. The light is hard and unobstructed, with long summer evenings across open ground.

Permitting is local. The city is compact and easy to stage in. Casper–Natrona County International Airport serves the market. From here, industrial sites across central Wyoming remain within practical day-trip range without relocating the entire production.

As a video production company, we work across Wyoming, including Cheyenne and Jackson. If your shoot spans more than one city, we plan it as a single production rather than separate trips.
